"Meditation is the ancient spiritual wisdom that balances the human person and opens us to the ultimate meaning of our life. In the Christian understanding it is above all a way of love that begins with oneself, expands to others unconditionally and finally finds communion with God. Laurence Freeman is a Benedictine monk who in this conference will explore the need for meditation in our world today - a need that touches people of all ages and backgrounds. His latest book is First Sight: The Experience of Faith."

North West groups Lenten retreat April 2011
Twenty four meditators, from North West Christian Meditation groups and a few independent meditators, attended a retreat at the Franciscan Friary at Pantasaph, near Holywell, in North Wales, from Friday 1st April to Sunday 3rd April.
Stefan Reynolds from Christian Meditation coordinators, in the London area, came for the duration of the retreat and gave talks on the topics of 'the Desert Fathers and Mothers', and on 'Christian Mysticism', especially 'the Cloud of Unknowing'.
Stefan's talks were very inspiring and informative, and were greatly appreciated and very well received by all the people who attended.
The venue was excellent overall. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The conference room, where the talks were held, and the chapel, which we used for our meditations, were light and airy and had a wonderful ambience. There was also free access to the Church of St. David's which is attached to the Friary. The grounds were peaceful, with a Stations of the Cross walk, a rosary walk, and also the national shine to Father Pio. There was also a gift shop and tea room next to the Friary.
The retreat ended with a visit to St. Winifred's well at nearby Holywell.
We would have no hesitation of recommending this venue and Stefan's talks to other likeminded groups.
